For lusty anthems of rock n' roll road mayhem, you just can't beat Grand Funk's "We're An American Band." So it was my great pleasure to be invited onstage to sing it last week with my boys The Static Minds — one of the more kick-ass pure rock n' roll ensembles currently treading the boards — during their gig at Kings in Raleigh, NC. Check 'em out in the clip below, and then watch me wander onstage around the 6:50 mark to belt out Don Brewer's immortal jam. Feelin' good, feelin' right, it was Friday night; the hotel detective was indeed out of sight.
