I was off at Cubs fantasy camp when Steel Panther came by the ShockHound offices to lay down an acoustic Shock Session — which was the only bummer about missing work that week. Their "washed-up Sunset Strip metal trash" routine is sheer genius; what Spinal Tap were to '70s British metal, these guys are to late-'80s Hollywood. And as with Spinal Tap, the banter is often just as good or better than the songs — even though cuts like "Fat Girl," "Community Property," "Death To All But Metal" and "Oklahoma Girl" all brilliantly walk the line between tribute and parody.
