What could be cooler to a ten year-old kid than a box of Twinkies? A box of Twinkies with BASEBALL CARDS on 'em, that's what!
My parents were pretty anti-junk food, but I remember one box of Twinkies or Ho-Ho's somehow ending up in our apartment circa 1976, and me cutting Gary Carter and Ron Cey cards right off the box — and, given my uncoordinated scissor skills, making a total mess of both.
No idea if Hostess cards are at all collectable these days — maybe you have to have the intact box (complete with snack cakes) for them to be worth anything?
Those cards took the longest to "bring to life" and when you tried to flip them or throw em in with a general "chuck up" they were often left behind. Had some stars on em. Didn't matter.
