My favorite story about Gates Brown (I think it was from "The Baseball Hall of Shame" book series) was one afternoon when he believed he wouldn't be playing, he actually bought a couple of hot dogs from one of the vendors, and ended up being called on to pinch hit. So, he stuffs the hot dogs in his back pocket, ends up hitting one into one of the gaps, rounds first, and realized he was going to have to slide (which would kill his hot dogs) or be out (and get in trouble with Mayo Smith) - so he slides, crushes the hot dogs, stands up, mustard, etc. all over the rear end of his uni.
